Help The JCF
Dear Japanese Cultural Fair Supporter,
We are pleased to announce the Thirty-First anniversary Japanese Cultural Fair presented by the Santa Cruz Japanese Cultural Fair Board of Directors in conjunction with the Santa Cruz Sister Cities Committee. The Fair will be held at Mission Plaza Park in the City of Santa Cruz on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
The fair presents a full day of performances on two outdoor stages and over 50 booths with the arts, crafts, and cuisine of Japan. Performances include San Francisco Taiko Dojo, Koto, traditional folk dance, Shakuhachi(bamboo flute), Ikebana, Tea Ceremony, Minyou(folksong), Storytelling, Kyogen play, Martial Arts, Shamisen, Bonsai, Okinawan dance and much more. This year's special guest will be Kumosuke (Rakugo/comic storytelling) from Shingu City, Japan.
For thirty years, the Japanese Cultural Fair of Santa Cruz has provided an opportunity for North Americans to increase their awareness and understanding of traditional and contemporary Japanese culture. We believe that through education, entertainment, and exposure to their arts, crafts, cuisine and customs, we can improve mutual understanding among neighbors of the Pacific Rim and enrich our community life here and throughout the United States.
The JCF organization is totally voluntary, has no paid staff or office space; and is operated totally with donations and some in-kind contributions from the City of Santa Cruz. We will be happy to provide you with any additional information about our organization.
