    Baisho Matsumoto Concert: May 21st.
John Kaizan Neptune Baisho Matsumoto and ensemble give a concert featuring traditional Japanese instruments at the Kizuka Hall at 150 Blackburn Street in Watsonville. Local shamisen maker and player, Kyle Abbott, will be onstage with him. This will be an amazing performance you won't want to miss!

For more than 45 years, Matsumoto-san has performed all over the world in the folk music style associated with Northern Japan. He plays tsugaru-shamisen, a version of a traditional Japanese stringed instrument that has a thicker neck and is played in a percussive and powerful manner. He is also a master of the shakuhachi flute.

The event will go from 3-5 PM. Doors will open at 2:30pm. Admission will be a $10 donation at the door.

Everyone had such a great time, including Mr. Matsumoto, he said he is looking forward to coming down for a repeat performance next year!
